The UNESCO protected Salzburg Marionette Theatre enchants the audience since 1913

Not only children, but also adults are equally excited: About 10 puppeteers trained in a wide variety of professions are employed at the puppet theatre salzburg. But they all have got one thing in common: musicality, craftmanship and the ability to empathize with the different characters of the puppets. Besides their own tailoring, in which the costumes are made, there is a joinery and metalworking for the construction of the stage design. This allows about 20-90 puppets to appear in each piece.

Here in Salzburg a unique playing technique has been developed that has become a role model for other puppet theaters worldwide. The performing practice of the puppet theatre salzburg was chosen as a cultural asset preserving as the „most highly developed form of puppet theater“.
