„Why produce art?“ is the motto of this year’s International Summer Academy, which takes up a global perspective. The courses will be directed by renowned artists, curators and writers from all over the world, like Tony Chakar, Diana Campbell Betancourt or Andreas Lolis. There is a focus on painting this year, that highlights the diversity of this medium. Paulina Olowska uses painting as a tool for the future. Aisha Khalid teaches how traditional techniques such as miniature painting can be applied on contemporary pictorial worlds and subjects.

Regular application
All prospective participants must apply for acceptance. On the basis of the submitted dossier, the teachers select participants. The fees are between € 450.- and € 1,200.-, depending on the duration of the course. Students are entitled to a reduced fee. All applications received by 2 May 2017 will be treated equally. Later applications are welcome, and will be processed in the order received, according to vacancies in the courses.
